Rosenfeld to Chair Atherosclerosis and Inflammation of the Cardiovascular System Study Section
Michael Rosenfeld, Ph.D., UW Medicine Pathology Professor, was recently named chairperson of the Atherosclerosis and Inflammation of the Cardiovascular System Study Section at the National Institutes of Health Center for Scientific Review. Dr. Rosenfeld’s tenure as chair is effective immediately and runs through June 30, 2011. According to Dr. Toni Scarpa, Director of the NIH Center for Scientific Review, Dr. Rosenfeld’s chairmanship of the Atherosclerosis and Inflammation of the Cardiovascular System Study Section “represents a major commitment of professional time and energy as well as a unique opportunity to contribute to the national biomedical research effort” and helps “assure the quality of the NIH peer review process.” Dr. Scarpa added that Dr. Rosenfeld was selected on the basis of his “demonstrated competence and achievement in his scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of his research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors.”
