Typical Schedule for Second Year Student

Autumn

PATH 600/800 Research Register for enough credits to bring your total to 10.  Register for Path 600 before establishing Supervisory Committee and Path 800 after establishing Supervisory Committee.

PATH 501 Proseminar Take the offered PATH 501 if it sounds interesting.  You need to take 3 of these before taking your GE.

CONJ 538 Genetic Instability and Cancer (weeks 6-10)

CONJ 531 and CONJ 532 Good half-quarter elective courses on signal transduction

PATH 520 "Pathology Presents" seminar series (approximately twice monthly)

 

Winter

PATH 600/800 Research Register for enough credits to bring your total to 10.  Register for Path 600 before establishing Supervisory Committee and Path 800 after establishing Supervisory Committee.

PATH 520 "Pathology Presents" seminar series [approximately twice monthly]. 

Grad Student Retreat at end of Winter quarter.  Second and third year students present their research in 10 minute PowerPoint talks.

Summer

PATH 600/800 Research For Summer quarter, you only need to register for enough credits to bring your total to 2 credits unless you are receiving financial aid [student loans etc].  In that case you need to check the registration requirements of your aid program.  Register for Path 600 before establishing Supervisory Committee and Path 800 after establishing Supervisory Committee.

Grad Student Retreat at end of Summer quarter.  Senior students present their research in 10 minute PowerPoint talks.

 

During the second year, as soon as the thesis project is formulated, a Supervisory Committee is established.  The Supervisory Committee must be established before the end of the second year.
