Introducing Rhea Lourdes Lim Moore
Fiscal Manager Rhea Lim was married to Dino Moore at the Ko'Olina resort on the west side of the island of Oahu, Hawaii on April 25, 2006. Rhea and Dino had a small intimate ceremony at Secret Cove with her parents and a few close friends. It was actually a double wedding with Rhea's best friends, Mara & Raul. It wasn't decided who would do the vows first so a classic duel of rock, paper, scissors decided which nuptials would be performed first with Rhea's rock beating Mara's scissors to start the ceremonies. Catherine Alexander: Crime Scene Investigator
In a follow up to an item that appeared in the
May issue of the Pathology Newsletter, Catherine Alexander's visit to the Word Theatre in Los Angeles for a reading of one her short stories resembled the Green Room at the Tonight Show with several Hollywood stars performing readings and attending the Mother's Day event. Word Theatre regularly hosts world-class writers and actors at literary salons in Los Angeles, New York and London for readings and book signings.
For Catherine's work, it took a crime scene investigator to bring to life the characters from her short story entitled, "Backyards." Jorja Fox, pictured with Catherine, stars as Sara Sidle in the hit CBS drama series,
CSI. Jorja's dramatic reading was especially powerful, drawing praise from the highly critical author and Catherine's daughter Elizabeth, who accompanied her on the trip.

If you would like Catherine's autograph, you will have an opportunity at her retirement party at the end of the month. Please join colleagues, friends and family in celebrating the life and times of Catherine Alexander on the occasion of her
retirement on Friday, June 30th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM in the Crow's Nest at the South Campus Center.
Catherine has been with the University of Washington for 24 years and the Department of Pathology since 1986, serving as Assistant to the Chair for both Russell Ross and Nelson Fausto.
If you would like to contribute to Catherine's retirement gift, please send your donation
(cash or check made payable to Barb Peterson) to Wendy Berry's attention at Box 357470 or in person at the Heath Sciences Center, Room C-516 by Wednesday, June 21. Please contact Wendy at 685-0230 if you have any questions.

Upcoming Software Upgrades
Over the next two weeks, several software upgrades will be rolled out to every PATHOLOGY, GCRC, and SLU Domain computer. Each of these upgrades are necessary to resolve security vulnerabilities that were recently exposed. A detailed email will be sent prior to the roll out of each piece of software.
PRODUCTS SCHEDULED FOR UPGRADE:
- Mozilla 1.7 to SeaMonkey 1.0.1 (a.k.a. Mozilla 1.8)
- Office 2003 to Office 2003 SP2 (Office 2000 installations will not be changed)
- Adobe (Macromedia) Flash Player to version 8
- RealVNC 4.1.1 to UltraVNC 1.0.1 (installed May 28)
PCS will conduct a measured roll out of the software upgrade packages to minimize the possibility of widespread issues should a problem arise. All of the installations will occur silently after business hours via remote installation scripts. Our goal is to complete the upgrades with minimal, if any, impact to you.
Please submit a
Tech Request if you have any questions about the upgrades.
