DIMENSIONS Autumn 1997

The Friends of Alzheimer's Disease Research recently sponsored their sixth annual Petite Wine Auction at the University of Washington's Urban Horticulture Center. More than 100 people attended, raising nearly $29,000 to help support Alzheimer s disease research at the University of Washington.

Faculty from the University of Washington Alzheimer's Disease Research Center were in attendance and presented new information about the studies being conducted here and elsewhere. The evening's introductory address was given by Dr. George Martin, director of the ADRC. Dr. Thomas Bird, professor of neurology and a co-investigator of the ADRC, discussed the exciting developments in human genetics and AD. He also summarized the diversity of cutting edge research at the Center, including studies in neuroendocrinology led by Drs. Raskind and Peskind, and studies related to treatment of AD led by Drs. Teri and Logsdon.

A special blended wine from the Conner-Lee Vineyard, which was labeled exclusively for the 1997 Friends of Alzheimer's Auction, was a unique item available this year.
